Welcome to QueryTo
A couple of days ago, I finally got to type the words I have been waiting two years to say: QueryTo is live.
And you all showed up.
You celebrated with me. You joined the waitlist. You shared the post. You asked when you could get in. You said lovely things about something I've put so many hours into.
And for that, I first want to say thank you!!!
Some of you have been following along as I've built QueryTo over the past few months. Some of you discovered QueryTo for the first time this week. Either way, I'm incredibly grateful that you're here. Whether the agency allows you to query another agent after receiving a rejection.
Whether you're preparing to enter the query trenches for the first time, already querying, or planning to query sometime in the future, QueryTo is being built for all of you.
We all know how querying can feel like a second job, especially if it's your first time in the trenches. Querying is so much more than sending emails. It's the eleventy-fifty tabs you somehow end up with open while researching a single agent. The agency website. The MSWL. An interview from 2021. The submission guidelines. That other interview you found three Google pages later. And wait—wasn't there something you saw on Threads?
There's the agent you swear you researched three months ago, but now you can't remember why you decided not to query them.
There's checking the submission guidelines. Then checking them again. Then, with your finger practically hovering over Send, checking them one more time because what if you missed something?
There's trying to remember when you're supposed to follow up, which version of the query you sent, whether that agent wants five pages or ten, and what exactly you wrote in that note to yourself six weeks ago.
I know that world because I'm a writer too. I've been in the trenches, and I have the badge and emotional scarring to prove it. hehe.
I didn't build QueryTo from the outside looking in. I built it for us.
For the books we're trying to get into readers' hands. For all the admin work nobody told us about. (We just want to write books!) And for the hope that someday, the right agent will fall in love with our book. And maybe, if the publishing gods are feeling particularly generous, we'll get that book deal and watch this ridiculous dream of ours actually come true.
Right now, we're in beta. The doors are opening gradually, so invites will go out in waves. But we're officially underway.
So, whether you're querying now, getting ready to query, writing the book you'll query next, or simply wondering what happens from here:
Welcome to QueryTo.
I AM SO EXCITED TO GO ON THIS JOURNEY WITH YOU ALL!!!
And, as always, I'm rooting for every single one of you in the trenches and everyone who'll be joining us there soon.
Suki
