RevPit #10Queries
About the Event
RevPit's #10Queries is a free virtual event where writers submit their completed query letter and first 5 pages of a manuscript via a Google Form for a random drawing. Selected winners have their submission assigned to a professional editor who posts brief, constructive feedback on BlueSky using the #RevPit and #10Queries hashtags between 9 AM and 9 PM EST on October 23rd.
Winners remain anonymous in the public posts and receive a private email identifying which post corresponds to their submission.
QueryTo's Take
This event offers a low-stress, free opportunity to get professional editorial eyes on your opening query package. Even for writers whose names aren't drawn in the raffle, following the #10Queries posts on BlueSky provides a masterclass in slush pile dynamics, opening page hooks, and common query letter mistakes.
Insider Tip
Participation from all writers is strongly encouraged even if your name isn't drawn in the raffle. Following the editors' public #10Queries feedback posts on BlueSky provides valuable insights into what catches an editor's eye, common query letter traps, and how to improve your opening pages.
Participation Rules
- Writers must have a complete query letter and first 5 pages of a manuscript ready in standard manuscript format.
- Limit of one submission per person via the official Google Form during the drawing window.
- The query and first 5 pages must be uploaded to the form as a single combined document.
- Winners are selected via a random raffle drawing. This event is separate from the main spring #RevPit contest; winners receive brief feedback on opening pages rather than a full manuscript edit.
