About Matthew
Matthew Valdez is a literary agent at Megibow Literary Agency, LLC. A former reluctant reader whose passion was sparked by Twilight as a teenager, he later fell in love with YA literature during college, which prompted him to attend YALLFest and dive into publishing. He holds a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education from Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida. Based in Florida, he teaches high school English alongside his agenting career. Following a strategic shift in May 2026, he focuses exclusively on genre fiction across Adult and Young Adult categories—specifically Fantasy, Science Fiction, Horror, and Romance—with an emphasis on LGBTQ+ and marginalized voices.
